Safety

You are responsible for your own safety when angling on Bristol Water property.  Any safety measures taken by Bristol Water do not relieve you of this responsibility.   If you go into the water you do so at your own risk.

Anglers must not wade any deeper than the tops of their thighs (i.e. normal thigh wader depth).

For your safety, Bristol Water strongly advises wearing a lifejacket and use of a wading staff when wading. All boat anglers must wear a lifejacket at all times when boat fishing.

At times, hidden dangers such as deep water, obstacles, weed beds or soft mud may hamper entry into the water and limit available fishing spots.

Do not cast if there is a danger of hitting people behind you. Be especially careful on or near public areas and footpaths.

Wading is not permitted at Barrow tanks.

Liability

Anglers should comply with the safety advice set out above at all times when on Bristol Water property.  Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.

Bristol Water will not be liable for any death or personal injury resulting from the failure of Anglers to abide by the safety rules or other unsafe behaviour by anglers.  This does not exclude Bristol Water’s liability for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence or that of its employees or agents.
